What Types of Appraisals Do You Offer?
We provide certified appraisals for a variety of needs, including:
- Insurance coverage
- Estate and probate
- Charitable donation (IRS-compliant)
- Divorce or asset division
- Art advisory and collection management
If you’re unsure which category your project falls into, we’re happy to help clarify during your consultation.
How Do I Get Started With an Appraisal?
Start by contacting us through our website form, email, or by phone. We’ll ask a few questions about your artwork or collection and your appraisal goals. Based on that, we’ll provide a service quote and suggest next steps.
Do You Offer Onsite or Remote Appraisals?
Yes. We offer both:
- Onsite appraisals for clients in Metro Detroit and surrounding areas
- Remote appraisals for select items based on photographs, documentation, and video walkthroughs
- We’ll help determine what’s appropriate based on your location, timeline, and the type of item(s) being appraised.
What Happens During an Onsite Appraisal?
One of our certified appraisers will visit your location to inspect each item, document its condition, and gather any relevant history or provenance. The visit typically takes 30–90 minutes depending on collection size.
What Should I Prepare in Advance?
If available, please gather:
- Clear photos of the item(s)
- Purchase receipts or provenance documents
- Certificates of authenticity or prior appraisals
- These materials help us ensure the most accurate valuation.
How Do You Determine the Value of My Artwork?
We conduct extensive market research using auction records, dealer databases, private sale records, and historical pricing. All reports adhere to USPAP standards and—when needed—IRS guidelines.
Do you use AI-generated results in appraisals?
We embrace the evolution of technology and, in some cases, use AI as a supportive tool—for example, to organize research or streamline documentation. However, we do not use AI to determine values in our reports. Establishing value is an important professional judgment that requires years of market experience, specialized training, and deep knowledge of art markets. Every appraisal we provide is the result of careful research and expert analysis by our certified appraisers.
What’s Included in the Final Appraisal Report?
Your report will include:
- Detailed item descriptions
- High-resolution photographs
- Market value or replacement value (based on your appraisal need)
- Comparable sales data
- Certification and signature from a qualified appraiser
How Long Does the Process Take?
Most appraisals are completed and delivered within 10–14 business days after the onsite visit or receipt of all necessary materials. Expedited services may be available upon request.
How Much Does an Appraisal Cost?
Pricing depends on the number of items, the type of appraisal needed, and whether we’re conducting an onsite visit. We provide a clear, upfront quote during your initial consultation—no surprises.
What Happens After I Receive My Report?
We’re still here for you. Whether you have follow-up questions, need to update the report in the future, or want advice on selling or donating—our team is happy to assist.
Can I Use Your Appraisal for Insurance or Legal Purposes?
Yes. All of our reports are compliant with USPAP and recognized by insurance companies, courts, and the IRS for donation and estate purposes.
